Marky Mark and the Stitchy Bunch

Last week, I felt like doing something “knitty” without actually picking up my needles, so I decided to make some stitch markers. They are so easy, everyone should do them. Go ahead, put down whatever it is you’re doing and go make some. You’ll be glad you did.

All you need are some basic supplies, less than $10 total, and considering that my LYS sells these babies for about a dollar each, you’re making them for about 17¢ (and they are exactly the colors/styles you want).

Jump rings from the jewelry-making dept. of your local hobby store (10mm ones will fit needles up to ~#9US), some small beads, and a bit of super-type glue. Coffee optional.

Just open the ring like this (you can do this with your fingers, but if you have some pliers handy that’s great, too):

Then slide the bead of your choice onto the ring:

Close up the ring, add a tiny dab of glue to the join in the ring, slide the bead to cover the join, and  you’ve got your very own stitch marker!

Repeat! They’re like potato chips, you can’t have just one.
